How to actually make money doing consumer research in Charleston, SC

Many people use the Internet to find opportunities to make a few extra bucks without learning a whole new skill set. Because so many people use the Internet in this way, there are many people who create scams and schemes to prey on these people and take their money. There are many scams involving consumer research, claiming you can make thousands filling out surveys. That is rarely, if ever, the case. However, there are legitimate consumer research firms that are usually locally based and will pay you actual money for your time and opinions.

Go to http://www.coastal-focus.com/participants.htm.
Fill out the form in as much detail as you feel comfortable with. Not all fields are required (except for contact information), but the more they know about you, the more likely you will be in the target market of one of their research clients, and the more likely you will be contacted.
When there is a study that needs someone in your demographic, or with your interests, career, or abilities, the company will contact you to make sure you are a match.
If you are a match, they will give you a time to come in person to their research facilities. You will participate in a focus group study, where you discuss a new product or marketing idea with a group leader and other research participants. It's not a sales pitch. In fact, what you may see may not even be on the market, so you can't buy it even if you wanted.
